A trip through the psychedelic life of legendary author Hunter S. Thompson, narrated by Johnny Depp and directed by Oscar winner Alex Gibney (Enron: The Smartest Guys In The Room).

Gotta be done hey? Hunter’s a legend, and if you’ve only seen his mental film “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas”, you should check out more. His books, photography and hedonistic lifestyle have always been a fascination to me. You’ve got to love a chap who pushes the self-destruct button now and again. Specially the one’s who do it and deliver us genius too. Check Check.

Check his photo’s here….

My friend Cathy O (who runs Anorak the happy magazine for Kids) sent me an invite to this, so it’d be rude not to.

It’s gotta be worth a shifty. Generally I pop across to a few Christmas markets to snaffle some art goodness to fill santa’s sack (for me usually).

Mr Beasley “Right As Rain” Single Launch, Vibe Bar, Brick Lane

Date: 14/11/2008 Date: 20:00

I proper love Mr Beasley.
Beasley are a bit like Goldfrapp before they went frappy. Solid Biscuit bass with some folky sexual singing. You can DOBO* and you can dribble.
Soak in the vocals or pogo to the Beasley beats. It’s Right as Rain for Mr Beasley, as their new single title suggests.

Shame they were shunted away in the loft of Vibe bar though. Still, they totally nailed it. There was a good crowd; some ravey monsters (myself included), plus a few record label cheiftains policing the reaction. On the whole people got down and had some Friday fun.

From the pre-gig banter, we all agreed we’d seen the start of something special.
A band with lots of ideas, positivity, and more importantly a good sound to keep us happy as barry.I for one will be purchasing the new Mr Beasley Album, as I’m pretty sure it won’t be on bitorrent.
Total and proper.

Check Check.

The History of Street Art

Date: 19/12/2008 Date: 13:00

Street art legend Blek Le Rat tells the story of street art and talks about how New York graffiti inspired him. One of the first artists to have an impact on the European scene, he pioneered the stencil style (think Banksy) which has influenced many other artists. Joined by the street artist Rough, he’ll be providing an insight into the underground world of graffiti in the UK. This is one talk that you don’t want to miss.

Sponsored by Nissan QASHQAI, ‘The History of Street Art’ takes place at Tate Modern on Friday 1st August 2008 at 18.30 at 19.30.
